Speyside is Scotland's most densely populated whisky region, nestled around the River Spey in the northeast. Home to over half of Scotland's distilleries, it's renowned for producing elegant, refined whiskies. The region benefits from a mild climate and access to pure spring water from the Grampian Mountains.
“Light, elegant, and fruity character. Common notes include apple, pear, honey, vanilla, and floral elements. Many Speyside malts show sherry cask influence with dried fruit and nutty characteristics. Generally lighter on peat smoke, though some distilleries like Benriach offer peated expressions.”
