🥃 The Macallan Unveils 79-Year-Old — Its Oldest Red Collection Release
The Macallan has added a staggering 79-year-old single malt to its Red Collection, making it the oldest expression in the series. Distilled nearly eight decades ago and matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks, it delivers notes of resinous old oak, heather honey, stewed stone fruits, and a long, smoky finish. Bottled at 40.8% ABV. Pricing and availability remain undisclosed — if you have to ask, you probably can't get one.
🏭 Laggan Bay Opens as Islay's 11th Distillery
Ian Macleod Distillers has officially opened Laggan Bay Distillery on Islay, with the first cask filled on 2 April 2026. Islay now has 11 active distilleries, further cementing the island's status as a whisky powerhouse. Details on spirit style and visitor plans are still to come.

Bruichladdich celebrates 25 years since its 2001 resurrection with Old Skool, a 10-year-old single malt distilled from 100% Islay-grown barley. Aged in bourbon casks with a touch of Sauternes, it's the first of three anniversary releases planned for 2026. £60, 50% ABV.
