────────────────────────────── ABERARGIE BREAKS 9-YEAR SILENCE WITH INAUGURAL RELEASE Perthshire's Aberargie Distillery has launched its first single malt after nine years of patient maturation. Golden Promise and Laureate barley, finished in bourbon and sherry casks, priced at £65. A proper family return to distilling after decades away. Murray's Take: This is what happens when you wait instead of rushing — the Morrison family did it right. ──────────────────────────────
KILCHOMAN TURNS 20 AND SENDS CASK NO. 1 TO OSLO Islay's Kilchoman raffled off its first-ever cask, filled on December 14th 2005, to a Norwegian collector. £20,000 raised for local charities including RNLI and the Islay & Jura Sick Children's Fund. Proper community work. Murray's Take: This is how you mark a milestone — give back to the place that kept you alive. ──────────────────────────────
LONDON DISTILLERY DELIVERS FIRST 10-YEAR-OLD SINGLE MALT After a 200-year silence, London has its own 10-year-old whisky. The London Distillery Company's Ten Times Around the Sun, bottled at 51.4% ABV from first-fill bourbon cask. Only 220 bottles. Peach and mango on the nose, preserved fruits and soft spice on the palate. Murray's Take: London whisky is no longer a novelty — it's actually good. ──────────────────────────────
DALMORE WRAPS MOTHER'S DAY IN SHERRY AND ORANGE The Dalmore's new 17-year-old lands at £175, finished in three Spanish sherries (Amoroso, Apostoles, Matusalem). Notes of Seville orange, toffee, dark chocolate. Personalised engraving available direct from distillery. Murray's Take: Solid liquid, solid positioning — no complaints here. ──────────────────────────────
TOMATIN LIGHTS THE LUNAR NEW YEAR WITH 56.5% PX To mark the Year of the Horse, Tomatin has bottled a 2011 single cask at cask strength (56.5% ABV) from a first-fill Pedro Ximénez butt. 817 individually numbered bottles at £95 each. Honeycomb and candy floss giving way to salted liquorice on the finish. Murray's Take: Lunar New Year releases are becoming proper tradition — this one's worth hunting for. ──────────────────────────────
