1. Buffalo Trace debuts two new experimental releases
Buffalo Trace has unveiled two ambitious releases: Single Oak Rye Bourbon (featuring Barrel #80 from the legendary Single Oak Project) and Low Entry Proof Wheated Bourbon — the 28th release in their Experimental Collection. The wheated bourbon examines how barrel entry proof affects flavour development. Available at the distillery gift shop for $46.99 (375ml).
2. Talisker launches Magma — a 47-year-old volcanic masterpiece
Talisker has unveiled Magma 47 Year Old, its oldest whisky to date at £3,750. What makes it unique: volcanic rocks from the Isle of Skye were used to toast new American oak casks. The whisky was matured in refill hogsheads before a four-month finish in these volcanic-toasted casks. Master Blender Greg Bruce calls it "a new frontier in cask finishes."
3. Glasgow Distillery releases experimental trio
The Glasgow Distillery has launched three new limited editions in its Experimental Small Batch range: Glasgow 1770 White Port Cask Finish (triple distilled, 53.3% ABV), Amarone Cask Finish (unpeated, 53% ABV), and Passito di Caluso Cask Finish (peated, 57.8% ABV). Each showcases one of the distillery's core styles: unpeated, peated, and triple distilled.
4. Stirling Distillery announces first single malt release date
Scotland's smallest whisky distillery will release its first single malt on June 26, 2026. The distillery won "Best Scottish New Make Whisky" at the World Whiskies Awards 2025, and anticipation is high for its inaugural matured release. The date marks a milestone for one of Scotland's newest distilleries.
5. Market watch: Investment-grade bottles remain resilient
Despite broader spirits market de-premiumisation, analysts predict continued growth in premium and aged Scotch through 2026–2033. Investment-grade Macallan, Hibiki, and Yamazaki continue to perform, with emerging cask opportunities from lesser-known distilleries gaining traction among collectors seeking value.
